According to The Gateway Program, the project is an important component of the new Hudson Tunnel Project. It will inject a mix of soil, concrete, and water to stabilize the riverbed in 1,200 feet of the shallow area on the Manhattan side of the Hudson River. The Gateway Program is a suite of critical rail infrastructure projects on the Northeast Corridor (NEC) between Newark, New Jersey and New York Penn Station.
Supporting The Gateway Program and new Hudson Tunnel Project
CASSONE was called upon to support the The Gateway Program for the Hudson Tunnel portion. The Gateway Project will expand capacity for the Northeastern Corridor by replacing and updating up rail infrastructure assets. Some of those assets are over 100 years old. The Hudson Tunnel Project will improve the reliability, resiliency, and redundancy for regional NJ Transit and national rail network for Amtrak.
This includes building 9 miles of new passenger rail track between New York and New Jersey, including a new, 2-tube tunnel under the Hudson River. They will also rehabilitate the existing 115-year–old tunnel, which has been problematic causing chronic delays for hundreds of thousands of daily passengers. Two 24×60 single story iBOX Complexes were installed on-time and under budget. Each 24’x60’ Complex was delivered and set on a pier in Hoboken, NJ.
How Cassone Delivered
Challenge
Hoboken is a very busy area with pedestrians and public transportation traffic. The site is small and could not accept all modular units delivered at one time to complete the project.
Solution
Deliveries were scheduled and time managed to minimize the disruption of daily pedestrian walkways and public transportation patterns for lengthy periods of time. Flagmen were used at intermittent time frames to control this high traffic area.
Outcome
Cassone Leasing successfully delivered and installed two 24×60 single story iBOX Complexes on time and under budget.
